Scottish Cimac Superleague Competition | Print |  E-mail

Meadowbank Stadium, Edinburgh

The 22nd of August saw the first Scottish Cimac Superleague competition being held north of the border.  The competition comprises a series of ten events held monthly between February and November where the entrants can compete at as few or as many tournaments as they wish for the opportunity to win the "league" title.

The competition was well received with a healthy turnout of fighters from Scottish clubs and a handful of clubs from England.  Positive comments from the FKSDA coaches where that the venue was top class, with exellent facilities, tiered viewing and plenty of mats to let the fights progress.  Negative comments are limited to the lack of pre-competition information on starting times and prices.  The cost of the competition was expensive.  The coaches had hoped that an entry of £25 would have been adequate for two categories however £16 per category plus the specators charge made the it an expensive day for families.

FKSDA fighters included -

Harry, Cameron, Keiran, Morgan and Kyle in the kids sections.

Aime, Kirsten and Ryan in the teens sections.

Deivija, Gibson and Jamie in the adults section.

Seven of the above fighters were attending their first competitions and nerves were running high amongst all ages groups.  Everyone fought well within their categories.  Infact due to the organisers balancing the numbers of entrants some of our fighters were up against stiff competion of higher grades, which they handled with a great deal of steely determination.

By the end of the competition the club had picked up one 1st place, six 2nd places and one 3rd place trophies for the categories entered, which is a fantastic result for eleven entrants.

Congratulations to you all for testing yourselves at a high calibre competition which had attracted the very best of competition fighter from far and wide.  You were there.  You fought.  Win or lose, you took part and you were counted.  Respect to you.
